Since 2016, many of our customers have chosen to upgrade to G5 to take advantage of all the new functions we’ve developed, and continue to develop. Over the years, we’ve learned a lot about our upgrade process and listened carefully to the questions and thoughts of our customers, which have helped us to make it easier and quicker to upgrade.

So what do you need to consider when thinking about upgrading? We answer the three most common questions.

Is the development of G5 completed, and is all the functionality I get in G4 included in G5?

MONITOR G5 is continually under development, in close contact with our customers.  

It’s important for us to keep moving forward, so we can deliver the market’s leading ERP system for the manufacturing industry. With this in mind, the feedback and needs of our customers are key to the process of developing the ERP system of the future.

Most of the functions in G4 are already included in G5, but completing this process will take time. That said, G5 has a lot of smart functions that are not available in G4. Releasing a new system isn’t just about duplicating the old one – we’re focused on new working methods and improving usability.

As a customer, when should I upgrade and what’s required in terms of time and resources?

We’re developing MONITOR G5 at a rapid pace and with high ambitions, which is why we think the time is right to start your upgrade process right away. The more we develop G5, the greater the leap from G4 to G5 from the user’s perspective.

But don’t worry! Here at Monitor we have a team of consultants with several years’ experience working with upgrade and implementation processes, and they’ll be with you all the way from installation of MONITOR G5 to completion of the project. You can decide how much, or how little support you need. Some companies choose to do almost everything themselves, while others want full consultant support so they can take the chance to evaluate and improve their internal processes.

An upgrade is a project where internal resources and the commitment of staff are key ingredients in achieving successful results. We recommend setting up a project group made up of members whose areas of expertise are aligned with the modules in MONITOR – preferably with a few years’ experience in the business – as well as a project manager.

An upgrade usually takes around six months on average, from initial interest to going live. This process varies from company to company.
