Monitor G5 the logical choice for Indexator

With production based in the Västerbotten town of Vindeln – as it was from the start – Indexator dates back to the 1950s. The firm manufactures rotators and related equipment for a worldwide clientèle. "Our customers include manufacturers of forestry machines and excavators such as John Deere, Komatsu, Caterpillar, Cargotech, etc.," explains Josef Alenius, CEO at Indexator.

With a workforce of just over 100 employees, the company has an annual turnover of SEK 300–350 million. The group includes four other companies which have all run Monitor for several years, so when it was time to change ERP system, the choice was simple.

“There were several reasons why we wanted to change. To begin with, the system we have at present is just not up to scratch, and there was a major need to streamline the business,” says Alenius.

Improving coordination between the companies in the group was another big reason Monitor G5 got the green light.

“We are able to utilize resources between the companies in a much better way. Monthly reports and obsolescence calculations can be coordinated, with system engineers and financial managers able to cooperate across company lines. Everyone in the organization benefits from a more effective tool to work with, which strengthens our team right across the group,” he adds.

This provides a better overview than other ERP systems when it comes to utilization and capacity, and it’s far easier to identify bottlenecks.

After ensuring there was support required to integrate its automated warehouse, Indexator decided to go ahead with Monitor G5 in the spring of 2020.

“The other companies in the group are yet to upgrade to G5, so this implementation will be a good opportunity to get up to speed with the new system.”

Alenius believes G5 will enable Indexator to develop its operations, for example, by increasing transparency within the company.

“You can easily generate a graphic showing order backlog and utilization of all machinery, which makes it easier to explain why we have to make changes. This provides a better overview than other ERP systems when it comes to utilization and capacity, and it’s far easier to identify bottlenecks where there’s a shortage of material or capacity.”

According to Alenius, the fact Monitor G5 is a standard system gives it a big advantage over its rivals.

“There’s no need for costly adaptations in order for the system to work, which is clearly evident from our low consultancy costs, for example.”
