THP Medical x Monitor ERP: Elevating medical manufacturing with real-time control

Founded in 1969 under TH Group, THP Medical Sdn Bhd (also known as Teong Huat Medical) is a Malaysian healthcare company specializing in pharmaceutical and healthcare solutions. In 2015, THP transitioned from retail into manufacturing, and in 2021, it implemented Monitor ERP to support this transformation.

On a scale of 1 to 10, I would rate Monitor ERP a 9. I would say the implementation has been successful.

Operational challenges before Monitor ERP
Before implementing Monitor ERP, most of THP Medical’s operations were manual and spreadsheet-based. Tracking material expiry dates was challenging due to limited visibility and poor prioritization of orders.

Without real-time data, the team was unable to respond quickly to changes, as updates required manual checks and cross-referencing across multiple spreadsheets, resulting in slow and inefficient processes.

Digital transformation with Monitor ERP
After implementation, operations were integrated into a single system, enabling the team to execute previously time-consuming tasks with just a few clicks. This improved efficiency and reduced reliance on manual processes across departments.

Monitor ERP connects all departments within a single system, enabling seamless, real-time data flow across operations.

“Data compilation that previously took days or even weeks can now be completed in just 5–10 minutes,” says Yeap Kok Eng. This transformation has enabled the team to set clear KPIs, including production efficiency, delivery reliability, and inventory accuracy. Annual budgeting is now more accurate and efficient, with BOM and operational data directly aligned to real manufacturing conditions.

Previously, month-end closing took one week, but it can now be completed in just three days.

“With Monitor ERP, the team has real-time visibility of financial data, allowing them to analyze P&L, track expenses, and manage cash flow and budgeting more effectively. This has improved forecasting capabilities and enabled faster, more accurate financial decision-making,” adds Lim Yong Jing, Finance Executive.

As a pharmaceutical manufacturer, THP Medical must comply with strict SOPs and manage multiple in-process quality checks and standalone processes, adding complexity to throughput time and material control.

“Monitor ERP simplifies this, especially with report summaries that allow us to evaluate supplier performance and shortlist candidates for audits. The agent task function also provides timely delivery updates, helping us track stock movement more effectively,” says Ching Teik Long, Senior Warehouse PIC & Pharmacist.

“Compared to manual Excel processes, which usually took two to three weeks, using Monitor ERP allows me to complete checks within a single day,” says Nur Amanina Binti Mahamad Aziz, Planner Executive.

With real-time stock visibility and production scheduling, planning accuracy and coordination have significantly improved, easing the daily workload for both purchasing and production planning teams.

A step towards smarter, scalable operations

Our vision is to become a smart and scalable manufacturing company. ERP is the first step—not the final step—towards Industry 4.0.
Derrick Chen, Chief Operations Officer at THP Medical

“We chose Monitor ERP because it is a manufacturing-focused ERP with strong capabilities in production planning, costing, and inventory control. It is user-friendly for shop floor adoption and has a modern, intuitive interface compared to traditional systems,” he adds.
