Gladsaxe Klip & Buk: Efficient production and significant growth with Monitor ERP

We visited Gladsaxe Klip & Buk and had the pleasure of speaking with Emil Nielsen, CEO, and Jan Bang Berthelsen, Production Manager, to learn about their day-to-day work with Monitor ERP. Since implementing Monitor ERP in 2020, Gladsaxe Klip & Buk has created a more scalable production process with better visibility and stronger control over its manufacturing processes. With a focus on standardization, production management, and collaboration, the company has achieved significant growth—and created a daily workflow where the entire organization operates based on a shared overview.

A fast-paced workday—and the need for a clear overview

At Gladsaxe Klip & Buk, the workday starts early for CEO Emil Nielsen. Orders need to be processed, production needs to run smoothly, and he needs to have a clear overview of the company’s operations from the very first minute. The company is a traditional subcontractor without its own products, where flexibility is crucial.

“We make what our customers want, so you have to be adaptable to work at Gladsaxe Klip & Buk. We have many orders that are delivered the day after they’re placed. That’s why Monitor is essential for us to grow the way we do today,” explains Emil Nielsen.

From limitations to Opportunities

Before implementing Monitor ERP in 2020, the company was using a system that could no longer keep up. Numerous customizations and a reliance on consultants made it difficult to grow the business in the desired direction.

“Our previous ERP system was too simple, and every time it was updated, we often had a consultant on hand afterward,” says Emil.

The switch to Monitor was a turning point:
“When we were looking for a new ERP system, our focus was on production, and the first time we opened it up and took a look at Monitor, we could see a huge difference,” adds Emil.

From small-scale to large-scale production—without losing control

Monitor has played a crucial role in the company's growth journey.

“Having Monitor has been an eye-opener for our production, and it’s been an exciting journey from the very beginning. I don’t think there’s anyone in the company who can imagine our day-to-day operations without Monitor,” says Emil.

Today, production can run efficiently—even without management present:
“We can run operations for many hours a day without a manager needing to be present. The evening shift knows exactly what to do because it’s all set up in Monitor,” explains Jan.

With Monitor ERP, Gladsaxe Klip & Buk has been able to scale up from small-scale production to running operations with two shifts.

A production system in a class of its own

Production Manager Jan Bang Berthelsen has many years of experience with various ERP systems, having worked in the industry his entire life. He explains that discovering Monitor was an eye-opener in terms of how to manage production.

“Monitor is production-driven, whereas many other systems are finance-driven, so it’s been a real eye-opener for me in terms of what you can do in Monitor and the possibilities it offers,” Jan explains.

Standard over customizations

A key factor in our success has been the decision to choose a complete, off-the-shelf system that is both flexible and future-proof. In the past, the need for customizations was a natural part of working with ERP systems, but experience also revealed the downside: cumbersome upgrades and expensive consultants. That’s why meeting Monitor introduced a new way of thinking about ERP.

“I quickly fell into the trap of saying, ‘We have to tweak this,’” Jan says, but today his attitude is different: “Now I’ve learned to appreciate that it’s a standard system and to see the possibilities it offers.”

For Gladsaxe Klip & Buk, it’s also about constant development.

If you have a standard system that’s constantly being developed, then you’re also on a journey where you’re looking ahead instead of standing still.

A clear recommendation

At Gladsaxe Klip & Buk, the recommendation of Monitor ERP is based not only on features and technology—but also on the company’s experience gained through several years of daily use of the system. For both management and production, Monitor has helped create structure, clarity, and a more effective way of collaborating on a day-to-day basis.

“We would definitely recommend Monitor,” says Emil Nielsen, adding, “If we hadn’t had Monitor, we wouldn’t be on the journey we’re on today.”
